Ashley – Test Shoot!! : Seattle Portrait Photographers

Ashley is one of our brides - her wedding is coming up in October – so of course, when she asked us to do a test to update her modeling portfolio, we were more than excited!! We took off to Pioneer Square and fended off the guys on the street with their catcalls while we scoped out the best locations for some city shots… After that, it was off to Golden Gardens to take advantage of the beautiful end-of-day sunlight. You might remember Kevin & Gretchen’s wedding from a couple of months back in Yakima… Well, their awesome videographers, Kianna and Michael from Ober Digital Media, just sent us a link to their videos, one of which documents their photo session with us before the wedding! Inspiration – an italian love story

I fell in love with this beautiful little video that I stumbled upon this morning…it’s a short film that was actually made from 4,500 still photographs. It’s romantic and poetic & it will have you dreaming of a Roman love story of your own;)! Summer is almost (officially) here, and this has us even more inspired for wedding season!

Ashley & Joe – Inspiration Board

Okay, so most of you have seen my posting from a few weeks back about an inspiration board for our wedding… I am so excited about these, and only wish we had the idea before our wedding, because it really would’ve helped Jeff to understand how it was all going to come together. We’d spent over six months planning our big day, and he told me two weeks before, “I don’t even really know what’s going on with all this!” Of course, we had figured everything out together, but it just didn’t come together in his mind like it did in mine… he needed a visual!! Luckily, I went crazy describing how everything was going to look, and he trusted me… but a handy little inspiration board like this one would’ve really helped him out:).

Anyway, Ashley saw mine and I offered to put one together for her with all of her favorite photos that she’s pulled for inspiration. Ashley & Joe’s wedding is coming up this October at DeLille Cellars in Woodinville… check out the inspiration board to see her colors and ideas!! Seeing all of this together makes us sooo excited for their wedding! Oh, and their engagement pictures are on the way…

Indigo Icons – Sea Studio: Seattle Wedding Photographers

I must admit, when Katy first asked us to take pictures of her artwork, we were a bit daunted… We have great cameras, of course, but had no idea how to approach photographing art! Luckily, Jeff came to the rescue. With a little online research & a bit of practice at home, we headed up to Bellingham to see what we could do. Miraculously, they turned out great!! Jeff worked his magic and now Katy has high resolution images to show her customers! We were totally awestruck with her amazing creations… she does some incredible collages with tears from fashion magazines, and also some gorgeous portraits.

Weddings: Inspiration Boards

What bride doesn’t love planning all the details of her wedding?? From perusing magazines, to blogs, to the latest J. Crew catalog, tracking down ideas is one of the best parts of creating your big day! I didn’t even know about Inspiration Boards when I was planning my own wedding a couple of years ago, but now I love perusing Style Me Pretty and Snippet & Ink for fun images and details to inspire our photography!

Just for fun, I decided to make an inspiration board for our wedding… the best part is, I got to throw in a couple of images from the actual event since it’s already happened! Our wedding was at the Hotel Bellwether in Bellingham, but we did our best to make it feel like a tropical getaway for all of our guests. We had a Ukulele player, Hawaiian-inspired food, gorgeous tropical flowers, and kept the colors simple with black J. Crew dresses for the bridesmaids and green cymbidium orchids for a little brightness. Since it was a semi-tropical theme, I looked to some of our favorite destination wedding photographers for images… Jose Villa and Leigh Miller’s blogs are both packed with incredible detail shots, and both totally encompass that editorial vibe that we are always striving for with our own photography! Also, we must say a big Thank You to our friend and wedding photographer, John Mitchell!!
