S’Mores, Sand & Sun!

There is nothing like Sandy Point in Ferndale, WA on the 4th of July!! Of course, I’m biased because I grew up there, but honestly – it is crazy and fun and we had a blast (LOL – pun intended!!;) hanging out at my mom’s beach cabin last weekend! We played on the beach, ate waaay too many S’Mores, and got in some much-needed relaxation. It’s been ages since we shared any fun personal photos, so we had to post a few!

Party Time!!

A year ago today, our sweet baby girl joined the world (12 days late!!) and arrived shortly before midnight – just in time for Jeff’s birthday! There’s no way you can understand how quickly time goes by once you have kids until it happens – and, seriously, we can’t believe her first birthday is already here! So excited to celebrate and watch her eat her first birthday cake. :)

Vacation!!!

Well, sort of vacation. :) We’re heading to one of our favorite places in Washington this weekend – Lake Chelan!! Time to relax at Jeff’s parents’ place, do a little wine tasting, and take loads and loads of pictures (because we always do!!:). We’ll be out of the office starting this afternoon & back Monday morning…

A Little Weekend Getaway…

We love to travel, but sometimes life gets busy and we forget to make plans to take breaks and get our rest – so last weekend, we headed to “Grandma’s House.” Audrey LOVES the beach, of course… she literally squealed with delight for our entire 2-mile walk! And don’t worry – we had s’mores – but we had to roast marshmallow Peeps because we’d neglected to stock up on regular marshmallows… they definitely work in a pinch!! ;) We took a million pictures (because, let’s face it, we’re attached to our cameras!) but we’ll spare you an entire vacation slideshow and just share a couple. Happy Wednesday!

Seattle Lifestyle Photographer – A Little Side Project…

Hello ya’ll!! (Um, sorry, no… I’m not from the South, but is there

really a better way to say it?!;) Just wanted to check in with everyone and let you know

we’re still here! We’ve been a little busy lately, planning for this year’s weddings,

working on fun photo shoot plans – oh, and I’ve started a new blog!

We LOVE our photo blog, but I’ve just found too many fun things I want to share

with my friends and blog readers that are basically unrelated to photography.

Holiday Fun…

Ours was full of food, family and fun. ;) Just thought

we’d share a couple of pictures from our Christmas celebrations!

My aunt and uncle always decorate their house so beautifully…

Mai Tai’s are an Anderson Family Christmas Eve tradition… yum!

Audrey loved her first Christmas morning… she was happy just to play with the wrapping paper!!

We took a walk on the beach to try to burn off a few of those cookies we stole from Santa’s plate… ;)

The Tree Lot…

I swear, she loved it!! ;)

A Holiday Tradition…

One of our fondest memories of the Thanksgiving we spent

together in New York was walking from our tiny West Village apartment

up to Macy’s to watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade – in person!!

One of the best parts? The delicious mulled wine that accompanied us in

our trusty thermos!! :) We’ve been to many countries that have a version

of mulled wine - it’s called “Gluhwein” in Germany, “Glogg” in Sweden…

You get the drift – but by any name, it’s a fabulous Holiday treat, so we thought

we’d share our recipe with our lovely blog readers this Thanksgiving.

Enjoy!!

Mulled Wine

1 Bottle dry red wine (we used Meditrina {5} this time – a blend of pinot noir, syrah & zinfandel – yum!)

1/2 cup sugar

2/3 cup water

2 cinnamon sticks

4 whole cloves

lemon peel & orange rind to taste – we use a few generous strips of each

Combine water, sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and citrus peel. Bring to a boil, and simmer for a minute or two,

then add wine and heat just until hot (over heat it and you’ll cook off the alcohol – which you definitely

don’t want to do!! ;) Pour through a strainer into cups & garnish with a cinnamon stick

and bit of citrus peel.

Oh, and at our house we love a piece of Swedish coffee bread alongside the mulled wine…

but that recipe’s a family secret!
